Any US based hoarders of fine Canadian nickels?
 

If so, how did you acquire the coins to sort? Do you live near the border, or do you have US banks order boxes for you?

I live near Detroit...was great 1 year ago...lots of .999 Fine Ni in Canada....now it is less than 5% in general circulating 5 cent coins....not worth the trouble now.

Better deal is 95% Copper US pre-1982 pennies....still about 28% in circulation around here.

I hoarded about 8000 lbs of US copper.

I have a couple rolls I got off eBay some time ago. It was part of a package of Canadian coins, and it included other, non-pure coins. So due to the fact that it was being auctioned off as "Canadian coins" and not "A few rolls of pure Canadian nickels plus some pure copper pennies plus a few rolls of non-pure pennies," I remember getting a good deal.

I got my very first Canadian nickel a couple of weeks ago in a Canadian antiques store. (It was free.)

are ALL canadian 5 cent coins composed of .999 fine nickel, or is it only a certain vintage series?

1955 - 1981 are the winners. Some years in the 40's and 50's are not pure.

$10.75 for one pound of pure nickels
about 3x better than copper

but i have to ask why ?
copper is much more abundant
how long would it take to get 5 lbs of " nickels " ?
